RHEL8.4 falls to maintenance mode due to device time out or takes a long time to boot up

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When a significant number of LUNs are presented to the system, boot times may take much longer (30+ minutes) to complete, or the system may drop in maintenance mode when VG-LV's or filesystems reside on SAN LUNs that are called by fstab. This may be exacerbated in the presence of partitioned devices.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.4
  • systemd-239-45.el8.x86_64 or lower
  • FC attached Luns
