Question: Which versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 are planned to have EUS support?

Answer: Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8.1, 8.2, 8.4, 8.6, and 8.8 (RHEL 8 minor releases through Full Support Phase). Please see the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Life Cycle page for details.

Question: What is the EUS period for each RHEL 8 minor release?

Answer: Each Red Hat Enterprise Linux EUS stream is available for 24 months from the availability of the minor release.

Question: Why does the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 EUS Inclusions list have fewer packages than previous Red Hat Enterprise Linux major releases?

Answer: At Red Hat, addressing customers' security risk is of paramount importance. Red Hat recently expanded the scope of addressing fixes or remediations for Red Hat-defined Critical and Important CVEs on all actively supported versions of Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL). Red Hat no longer limits security fixes to a specific list on either active releases nor EUS releases. By expanding the scope, we hope to reduce the risk profile of our customers, maintain greater stability of their enterprise deployments and lessen the time to resolution of internal security audits.

Question: What security fixes does Red Hat Enterprise Linux 8 EUS provide?

Answer: Red Hat may provide security fixes for Red Hat-defined Critical and Important CVEs for packages within Red Hat Enterprise Linux as long as the package is not in end of life.
- Packages within RHEL 8 Application Streams may have a shorter life cycle than a specific RHEL minor release

- The policy applies ONLY on current active minor releases per the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Life Cycle policy

Answer: The inclusions list below is a minimum set of packages that apply to Urgent bug fixes.
- bind, bash, chrony, grub2, grubby, glibc, gnutls, httpd, kernel, libgcrypt, libvirt, nss, openssh, openssl, python 3.6, qemu-kvm, rpm, sudo, systemd, wget, yum / dnf
- Urgent bugs not on the list may be addressed at Red Hat discretion.
- The policy applies ONLY on current active minor releases per the Red Hat Enterprise Linux Life Cycle policy.

EUS is not available with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Self-Support subscriptions.

Answer: EUS is available for use with Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server, including Red Hat Enterprise Linux Virtual Data Center, and Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Applications subscriptions.
