What are the differences between Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP Solutions and Red Hat Enterprise Linux for SAP with High Availability and Update Services?

RHEL for SAP with High Availability and Update Services (RHEL for SAP with HA and US) is an offering available on demand in the Azure Marketplace on certified instances. RHEL for SAP Solutions is a commercial offering certified on Azure instances that customers can purchase directly from Red Hat, Red Hat channel partners and use Red Hat Cloud Access to register current subscriptions.

When should my customer use SAP Solutions or RHEL for SAP with High Availability and Update Services?

  • Customers wishing to purchase from the Azure marketplace will be required to purchase RHEL for SAP with High Availability and Update Services.
  • Customers who wish to use an existing Red Hat subscription or purchase directly from Red Hat or Red Hat channel partners can purchase RHEL for SAP Solutions. SAP Solutions can only be consumed via Red Hat Cloud Access.
  • Customers who require Smart Management will be required to purchase RHEL for SAP Solutions through Cloud Access.

What are the differences between Extended Update Support (EUS) and Update Services (E4S)?

Extended Update Support (EUS) provides up to two (2) years of extended update support. Update Services (E4S) provides up to four (4) years of update services from GA date. RHEL for SAP with HA and US (7.4) was the first solution provided with the four (4) year support. Update Services (E4S) is available in both RHEL for SAP with HA and US and SAP Solutions.

Extended update services and Update Services allows customers the flexibility to decide when to take advantage of new Red Hat Enterprise Linux features, including new hardware enablement.

What does my customer do with an existing Azure marketplace HANA SKU that is deprecated?

Customers are required to migrate to a supported offering. Customers will migrate from RHEL for SAP HANA to RHEL for SAP with High Availability and Update Services.

What does my customer do with an existing RHEL for SAP HANA subscription that is consumed via cloud access on Azure infrastructure?

Customers that have an existing RHEL for SAP HANA subscription through Red Hat Cloud Access and consume it on Azure infrastructure will be required to migrate to RHEL for SAP Solutions.

The Red Hat Cloud Access program allows customers to move their Red Hat subscriptions from physical or on-premise systems onto specific, certified cloud providers with full support from Red Hat.
