What is the Managed Design Program, and who are the participants?
The Managed Design Program (MDP) is a pre-release software program where Red Hat customers and partners install and test new product code, and provide feedback to Red Hat product management and engineering teams. This feedback includes all areas across functionality, workflows and integrations with existing systems. A MDP release is similar to a beta program or technical preview, only providing software at a slightly earlier stage in the development cycle. It is not intended for use on production systems and should be used for testing only.
Is MDP product code fully supported by Red Hat?
Managed Design Program product code is primarily supported by Red Hat Product Management and Engineering, with limited involvement from Technical Support.
What are the future plans for releasing Red Hat Satellite 6.0?
As of early February 2014, the MDP program for Red Hat Satellite 6 is now complete, with excellent participation from customers and partners over the past nine months. Red Hat Satellite 6.0 will be released mid-year 2014, incorporating much of the critical feedback acquired from our MDP participants.
Will there be a Beta program and how can I apply/participate?
Red Hat Satellite 6 Beta has launched on July 1 2014 including both a Public and High Touch Beta program. All current Satellite customers will receive access to the Public beta code with support from GSS beginning in July. The High Touch Beta program will provide a higher level of hands-on support from Red Hat than the Public Beta, including regular discussions between the customer, Red Hat Account Managers, and the Satellite program team as customer works through the Beta code.
