System Tray Icon no longer available in gnome 3.26

Issue

  • After longer pause than normal, SpiderOakGroups, synergy, etc programs return No systemtrayicon available on command line.
  • After longer pause than normal, synergy displays new GUI window stating System tray is unavailable, don't close your window.
  • Tray icons placed in top bar by gnome-shell-extension-top-icons appear to be non-responsive.

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.5 Beta
  • gnome-shell-3.26 (or newer)
