Keyboard arrow keys do not repeat in virt-viewer in Red Hat Enterprise Linux7.0

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • When using virt-viewer (in case on a Windows 7 VM), the keyboard arrow keys immediately to the right of the alphanumeric keyboard do not repeat. The keyboard has a number pad and if I turn off NumLock and use the arrows keys on the number pad, they repeat fine. This doesn't appear to be hardware because the arrow keys repeat with no issue using Linux desktop applications. Steps to reproduce issue:
1. Create a VM (in my case, Windows 7).
2. Access the VM with virt-viewer.
3. Start notepad in the Windows VM.
4. Enter some random text...normal character and number keys repeat fine.
5. After entering some random text, press and hold an arrow key to move the cursor in the document.
6. Cursor only moves one place or moves very slowly.
7. Number pad arrows will move the cursor quickly.
  • It is the same results when accessing the VM via the Virtual Machine Manager.
