ntp.conf に設定できる参照サーバー数の上限

ntp.conf で許可されている参照サーバー数の上限を教えてください。上限が設定されている場合に、その制限を超える台数を使用するのは推奨されませんか?
利用可能なサーバーが 8 台あり、すべてのサーバーを使用したいです。
