LVM for data migrate

Latest response

Hi all,
I would like to make a question.... Is it possible to use LVM to make a mirror from existing logical volume (root mount point for example), to another existing lv previously created in other physical volume?
I wanted to use lvm for this purpose, but I don't know if I could mirroring all lvs from a lun to another one.

I already tried to do it with #lvconvert -m1 command, and it works with the first lv, but the next one don't works throwing the error "Insuffcients free extents", when it has enough extents. In fact destination lun is bigger than source.

How could do it?

Thanks in advance

Hello Jorge, do you think you can submit a sosreport from both systems to techsupport at redhat.com? I would like to see the storage configurations. Note that this email can only receive up to 5Mb attachments, if the sosreport is bigger than that upload via FTP and let me know the file name: https://access.redhat.com/site/solutions/2112

Cheers

Assuming your target PV is at least as large as your source PV (or, at the very least has as much free space as your source volumes consume), you should be able to do it by adding "--corelog" to your lvconvert invocations. If you don't use that option, it tries to write data to disk. Between the actual mirroring of data and the logging, you're short on free PEs - thus the error.
