dropbox installation
I have tried both the regular instructions on the official Dropbox site
and various suggestions on the web peculiar to centos.
Nevertheless, I am not anle to install dropbox.
The command "./dropbox-dist/dropboxd"
gets stuck.
If I press some key, a new line appears
"/usr/bin/nautilus"
On the Dropbox icon, I can read
"Dropbox 2.6.27 Connecting..."
I have a RHEL workstation 6.5.
Thank you for any help.

I have RHEL 6.5. For me it works:
wget -c https://www.dropbox.com/download?dl=packages/fedora/nautilus-dropbox-1.6.0-1.fedora.x86_64.rpm
or
wget -c https://www.dropbox.com/download?dl=packages/fedora/nautilus-dropbox-1.6.0-1.fedora.i386.rpm
sudo rpm -Uvh nautilus-dropbox-1.6.0-1.fedora.*.rpm
dropbox start -i
dropbox start
dropbox start

Let me know if its works for you.
Just using the commandline instructions works perfectly for me. This also has the advantage that the entire install is done in your home directory, so you can blow away the OS but keep your /home, do a new install, and Dropbox "just works".
I'll paste the website instructions below:
https://www.dropbox.com/install
32-bit:
cd ~ && wget -O - "https://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86" | tar xzf -
64-bit:
cd ~ && wget -O - "https://www.dropbox.com/download?plat=lnx.x86_64" | tar xzf -
Next, run the Dropbox daemon from the newly created .dropbox-dist folder.
~/.dropbox-dist/dropboxd
If you're running Dropbox on your server for the first time, you'll be asked to copy and paste a link in a working browser to create a new account or add your server to an existing account. Once you do, your Dropbox folder will be created in your home directory. Download this CLI script to control Dropbox from the command line. For easy access, put a symlink to the script anywhere in your PATH.
I'm not sure if this will help you, or others, but I ran into an issue where dropbox mysteriously stopped working on both of my RHEL 6.5 systems simultaneously... I was not able to launch dropbox as my normal user, but could launch it as other user (both root and another unprivileged user worked).
I was able to fix it by:
Deleting/renaming ~/.dropbox-dist and ~/.dropbox
After that you you will have to re-link your dropbox account. Prior to re-linking, I followed the instructions outlined here:
https://www.dropbox.com/en/help/1941
to avoid any duplicate/conflicted file issues.
Bassically:
1) rename my existing dropbox directory
2) re-link my dropbox by running dropbox start -i and following the wizzard
3) Stop the download immediately by clicking the Dropbox icon in your menu bar and selecting Pause Syncing from the menu.
4) Copy over all the files from the directory I renamed in step 1 into my newly created dropbox directory
5) Resume syncing by clicking the Dropbox icon in your menu bar and selecting Resume Syncing from the menu.
Since dropbox broke on both my Desktop and Laptop, I had to follow these steps on both systems. In my case I allowed my desktop to fully re-index and sync before following the same steps on my laptop. I used Lan Sync to speed up the process of syncing my laptop:
