How do I provide the 'stage2=' parm for RHEL 6.1 PXE boot?

Latest response

Hi

I would like to specify the stage2 parameter to a RHEL 6.1 PXE boot, I have added the parameter to the 'append' line in the isolinux.cfg/default
but during the pxe boot sequence I get the INFO that stage2= has not been specified.
I have tried using 'stage2=' and 'inst.stage2=' neither works.
(stage2=nfs:IP_ADDR:/PATH_TO_IMAGE_STRUCTURE.

Any ideas, or hints to where this might be documented?

Thanks

Henrik

Henrik - I'm at a bit of a loss regarding "stage2" (even after researching it).
Can you post your PXE stanza for the menu option you are using?

From what I gather the stage2 option defines the installation source.

The method I use is:

LABEL CentOS-64
        kernel /images/CentOS-64/vmlinuz
        MENU LABEL CentOS-64
        append initrd=/images/CentOS-64/initrd.img ksdevice=bootif lang= kssendmac text ks=http://192.168.0.141/cblr/svc/op/ks/profile/CentOS-64
        ipappend 2

Which then retrieves my ks file. There I have:

url --url http://spacewalk.matrix.private/pub/ks/CentOS-6.4-x86_64/

Which I believe is the stage 2.

So, if you are not using KS, I believe you could consolidate and use:

  append initrd=/images/CentOS-64/initrd.img ksdevice=bootif text repo=nfs:ro:192.168.141:/export/CentOS-64/
