is it possible to install JBoss SOA Platform using yum

Latest response

I have question is it possible to install JBoss SOA Platform using yum.
I have access to account where there is active subscription?

If I install SOA Platform using ZIP (as written in documentation) if it
will be possible to install updates by "yum update..."?

Best regards

Hi Kamil, welcome.

I've modified your Discussion title from "Jboss" to "is it possible to install JBoss SOA Platform using yum"

You should include as much information in your title as you can. Hopefully the community will be able to help you out with your questions here.

Hi David,
In the meantime I have found out that installation of JBoss SOA Platform version 5.1.0 is possible only via zip file file which I can download from RedHat.com (after login on account which has access to subscription).
Best regards

Hi Kamil,

I must admit I was surprised recently when going through EAP installation that the documentation suggested installing from the downloaded zip files as a supported method and SOA platform appears to suggest the same.

The main issue I see installing from zip is that rpm depends heavily on file locations and installation from the zip gives you flexibility to install anywhere you want. Additionally, as the initial package won't be installed via rpm (unless you roll your own) subsequent packages won't be able to detect that they are upgrading a previously installed package and that they are replacing/upgrading rpm owned files such as configuration etc.

Helo,
Once again. I return to update process of SOA PLATFORM 5.1. I have downloaded ZIP files. But how to install them??

Best regards,
Kamil

There is no installation per se Kamil. You just have to unzip the download to the directory of your choosing. See the Installation Guide here: https://access.redhat.com/site/documentation/en-US/JBoss_Enterprise_SOA_Platform/5/html-single/Installation_and_Configuration_Guide/index.html#Variable_Name_SOA_ROOT_Directory3
