Shared data volume as scsi_fence device

I am using shared data storage volume among 2 nodes in RedHat HA environment in my lab environment. I am using same shared storage volume as my scsi_fence device to fence failed node in HA. Although, fencing mechanism with this configuration working properly in my lab environment, however not sure if this solution is also ok for production environment?
Is it OK to use same shared storage as scsi fencing device as well or separate volume is required for fencing purposes?
