Migrate from a 300M /boot server to a 1G /boot server

Latest response

Hello everyone !

When Red Hat began to distribute RHEL 8 I've made my firsts servers with only 300M /boot partition (I know now that it's bad) and until today I kept those server as it would be very complicated to reinstall and reconfigure applications on those servers.

Recently, it have come to my mind that one solution would be to make a backup of a server (or his partitions at least) and recover it on a disk with a 1G /boot partition.

As my actual backup and recovery plan is VMWare based (snapshots) I never really got into Red Hat based Backup and Recovery solutions, so I'm looking for advise on what product/program could fit my needs :)

I've passed in front of Relax-and-Recover (ReaR) I'm beginning to learn it, but would it be able to recover a server making it possible to increase the /boot partition ?

Does it have as possibility as Clonezilla ? (about which partition to restore, where and how, recovering on a bigger partition/disk)

would it keep everything the same (like same UUID for disks ?).

If ever you have a procedure/tuto about this program (especially if it cover my specific case) I'll be glad to have some reading and to learn from it :) !

Regards,
Nathan
