ovirt-engine-dwhd fails with database authentication exception

Latest response

Hello,

I am running RHEV 3.1 as an evaluation and installed package rhevm-dwh along with it.

However, the service ovirt-engine-dwhd fails to start.

Error message in /var/log/ovirt-engine/ovirt-engine-dwhd.log:

013-01-23 11:21:16|3Ejxt6|3Ejxt6|3Ejxt6|OVIRT_ENGINE_DWH|HistoryETL|Default|6|Java Exception|tRunJob_2|java.lang.RuntimeException:Child job running failed|1

org.postgresql.util.PSQLException: FATAL: password authentication failed for user "postgres"
        at org.postgresql.core.v3.ConnectionFactoryImpl.doAuthentication(ConnectionFactoryImpl.java:291)

Any idea what I might be missing here?

Thanks, Andrej

OK, I managed to work that out. There are a few important parts missing from the admin manual: it only mentions to install rhevm-dwh, but you also have to install rhevm-reports. After doing so and running commands

rhevm-reports-setup

and

ovirt-engine-dwh-setup

I am now able to log in to the reports portal.

There is still no running dwh service, though. Seems to be related to a name resolution issue.

Will report on that soon.

Thanks

Andrej

One reboot later everything appears to be working.

So just the manual needs to be fixed :)

Kind regards, keep up the good work

Andrej

Glad to see you got this resolved, Andrej, and thanks for following up.
