RedHat 6 Cluster

Latest response

Hi,

I am in the process of configuring/documenting a pure application cluster for a couple of virtual machines running on VSphere 5.0.

I have downloaded the Cluster Administration guide which goes into details however I am stuck on just installing the prerequisite software.

The guise says to install openais, cman, rgmanager along with some storage software which I don't need for my specific cluster.

I have upgraded all my packages to 6.3 but I cannot even find cman or rgmanager RPM's on any of my repositories.

I am looking for some guidance here on how to proceed.

Thanks,

Terry

Hi Terry,

You can install them by running below command.

#yum groupinstall "High Availability" "Resilient Storage"

Before hand, cluster node should register to the following channels:

  • RHEL Server High Availability (v. 6 for 64-bit x86_64)
  • RHEL Server Resilient Storage (v. 6 for 64-bit x86_64)

This knowledgebase covers more details:

How do I install Cluster (High Availability) packages on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6?

Hi Anand,

Thanks for the quick reply. I have already tried this to no avail:

We obviously have internal yum repositories which seem like they don't have any of the prerequisites I need.
This is what I'm trying to figure out.

yum grouplist doesn't give me High Availability of Resilient Storage (which I don't need as this is only an application cluster).

Thanks,
Terry

Hi Terry,

Yes, it seems like the system is not subscribed to the channel RHEL Server High Availability (v. 6 for 64-bit x86_64)

Can you provide below command output?

# yum repolist

Regards,

Anand

Hi Anand,

Sure, here it is:

[root@lxdev1pbamgt01 Packages]# yum repolist
repo id                                                 repo name                                                                          status
rhel-server-6                                           Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (RPMs)                                           8,708
rhel-server-6-optional                                  Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 Optional (RPMs)                                  5,412
rhui-client-updates                                     RHUI Client Updates                                                                    0
repolist: 14,120
[root@lxdev1pbamgt01 Packages]# yum repolist
repo id                                                 repo name                                                                          status
rhel-server-6                                           Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (RPMs)                                           8,708
rhel-server-6-optional                                  Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 Optional (RPMs)                                  5,412
rhui-client-updates                                     RHUI Client Updates                                                                    0
repolist: 14,120

Here it is in a better format:

[root@lxdev1pbamgt01 Packages]# yum repolist

repo id repo name status

rhel-server-6 Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 (RPMs) 8,708

rhel-server-6-optional Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 6 Optional (RPMs) 5,412

rhui-client-updates RHUI Client Updates 0

repolist: 14,120

Hi Terry,

Yes, you are right, repolist is not showing that the system subscribed to the channel RHEL Server High Availability. I suggest you to subscribe to the above channel and run groupinstall or install required individual packages (they should install dependencies as well).

Below knowledge base article may assist further:

Hi Anand,

I figured as much. I need to cut through some red tape internally and try and get this done.

Thanks for your help.
