The approach to add the rhev-h to rhev-m

Latest response

I installed a rhev-h, but did not set the rhev-m information for rhev-h during the installing of rhev-h. Then I tried to add the rhev-h to rhev-m by from the 'hosts' panel, but always got the error message: Cannot add Host. Failed creating an SSH session with the host. Verify that the host is reachable (IP address, routable address etc.) and authentication parameters are correct (Username/Password, public-key etc.) You may refer to the rhevm.log file for further details.

But in fact, I could ssh to the rhev-h from rhev-m with both admin and root. What I can do to fix this?

By the way, I could configure the rhev-h manually to make the rhev-m detected rhev-h automatically.

Hosts -> New is not to add an RHEV-H to RHEV-M. It can only be used to add an RHEL based hypervisor to RHEV-M. See details at https://access.redhat.com/knowledge/docs/en-US/Red_Hat_Enterprise_Virtualization/3.0/html/Administration_Guide/Administration_Guide-Managing_Hosts.html#Hosts_Operations

To add your rhev-h to rhev-m, log in to the hypervisor as "admin" user. This will automatically invoke the admin menu. From the admin menu, add the details of RHEV-M. Once you do this the hypervisor will appear in "Pending Approval" status on RHEV-M. Approve it.

There are 2 methods to adding RHEV-H to RHEV-M:

1.  Do what Sadique mentioned above.

2.  Log into RHEV-H as admin

     * go to the RHEV-M screen and set a password

     * Go to RHEV-M

     * Click Hosts -> New and use the password you just set

Along these same lines,  how do I *reset* the rhevm host the rhevh is associated with?  I can run admin again as many times as I want but the screen seems to always show what I *first* entered with no way of clearing it.   I'm doing this in my environment as I learn RHEV and moving the host to different rhevh hosts.
