EAP 6.x logging behaviour

Latest response

Hi everyone,

I just want to know if there are some known bugs in the logging of EAP 6.x instances.
We are facing the incomprehensible issue that our JBoss EAP 6.1.0 instance stops logging into server.log from time to time.
Until now we were not able to find the cause for this.
So I hope maybe somebody may have had similiar issues with a standard/default logging configuration?

Thanks in advance and best regards,
Esther

We have EAP 6.0 and 6.1 in production here on the Customer Portal (though not in this discussion CMS) and have not seen anything like this. I'm not aware of any known issues but a JBoss tech would know more. You could possibly take a thread dump if you catch it in the act and see if there is lock contention on a log appender or something like that.

Sorry I can't be of more help here!

We had a couple issues early on with logging... I don't have the specifics in front of me but check that:

A) your not having a conflict with console logging or a different logging service
B) that none of your apps have log4j configs that are also writing to the server.log file but are not set to append.
C) Check and make sure that something else isn't taking ownership of the file or locking it it.
D) That your not occasionally running out of disk space.
