RHEL7 - Kickstarting from Satellite

Latest response

Efforts to kickstart a RHEL7 install from my 5.4.1 Satellite are proving fruitless.

Current issue is that the Satellite generated kickstart doesn't put %end at the end of the %packages section. Is my Satellite up to the task? (I know there are a few upgrades outstanding).

Anybody managed to get RHEL7 deployed from Satellite kickstart?

Hi Duncan, Satellite 5.6 or newer is a the requirement - given enablement for Red Hat Subscription Management. We are creating a Satellite FAQ to help assist Satellite customers on RHEL 7 Beta, and will post it shortly.

Ah well - back to hassling my managers about the delayed Satellite upgrade then . . .

Cheers

Duncan, contact Red Hat Support and ask for a temporary evaluation copy of Red Hat Satellite for a 90-day testing period.

See the response from Red Hat David Powles at the discussion https://access.redhat.com/site/discussions/502753 where he recommended someone request an evaluation Satellite entitlement. Then you can test it and if it goes well perhaps migrate everything over to it and re-entitle with a proper entitlement (I suspect this is possible).
