Wine no longer works under RHEL 8.2

I have the latest redhat workstation installed on my desktop as my primary os and the latest version of redhat seems to no longer be compatible with WINE

no matter how i try to install it nothing works
even if i try the instructions to make install it builds however it is not properly integrated in the system.

basically unable to run anything using command $wine application.exe
you get $bash: wine: command not found..........

installation using yum or dnf takes you down a rabbit hole of package dependencies.

i find it a little strange that proton installs with no issue using the steam repository and works seamlessly when it is basically wine re branded.
