Can't use Windows Key/Home Key to search for applications in the GUI anymore after kernel update (kernel version 3.10.0-1127)

Hi, I am having the issue described in the title where I can't search through the GUI anymore after the kernel update. As far as I can tell it's not a bug related to a single system at least, multiple of our clients have complained about this since the new updates were pushed, it seems like the update removed a good quality of life feature. I was wondering if there was any kind of tweak I could install to fix this or if it will be fixed in a later patch? I'm honestly not sure why I couldn't find discussion posts about this, everyone that I've talked to about it doesn't like that it has been removed.
