RHEL V8 Guest on MS Hyper V 2019 Slow performance

Latest response

Trying to install RHEL V8 Developer Edition as a guest VM on MS Hyper-V.

I am experiencing slow performance after installation when running more than one guest virtual CPU.

When adding more than one cpu (2 or 4 virtual cpu) to the guest RHEL V8, the UI becomes barely usually. If i switch back to one CPU the RHEL UI is functional again.

Need help to get RHEL V8 as a guest on Mircosoft Server Hyper-V 2019 without these performance issues when running more than one guest CPU.

The VM was setup as per Redhat guide https://developers.redhat.com/rhel8/install-rhel8-hyperv/

Hyper-V host in Windows Server 2019 Edition

This also appears to be the case with a Windows 10 host. Interested in finding out why.

I am experiencing the same issue, and I have followed Justin Monks link to a tee.

This issue has been resolved in recently released RHEL-8.3 kernel version 4.18.0-240.15.1.el8_3.x86_64 via RHSA-2021:0558.
