ssh is not happening from outside the network

Latest response

Hi,

I have a one linux machine named (linv65) and it does not allow me to do ssh to that machine from my laptop directly but i can do ssh to another machine named (linv60) which is there in the same network and then do ssh to linv65.

What is the issue here

It sounds like your "linv65" system doesn't have a default gateway.

Sounds like you're saying you can ssh out from linv65 but are not able to ssh into it?

Couple things to check (on linv65):
1) Is the ssh service running
2) Is the ssh service configured correctly
3) Is ipatbles running
4) If iptables is running, is there an appropriate -j ACCEPT rule for the ssh service (i.e., that matches the configuration in #2)

You're not clear on what network the laptop is on, but if it's on a different LAN-segment than linv65:

5) Check your routing table to see if you've got a default route defined on linv65
