How to change the IP and name of the server in rhn web site?

Latest response

Hello,

We have recently moved our server to another building. The domain name has changed, and the server does not have a visible IP from outside the local network.
How can I change the server name, and the IP on the redhat network website so that the server will be recognized and I might keep up to date my system ? The IP of the server is a local adress such as 192.168.xxx.xxx ... Should I give the IP of the institute gateway ?

Thank you in advance
Pierre.

Pierre,

You need to make all the appropriate system edits to network configs. Reboot and run spacewalk-hostname-rename script. Make proper changes to your RHN Classic Management. Subscribe your Satellite server back to RHN.

Thanks for the response David.

Pierre, please let us know if the above resolves the problem or if you need further help.

Hello,
Acually, I mailed to the RH support and it has been suggested that I should delete the server from the Customer Portal (under RHN Classic/ registered Systems or under Subscription Management/ Units) and then re-register again via the script : rhn_register.
However I can't connect to RHN ... it tries during several minuts and ends up here are my config files :

vi /etc/sysconfig/rhn/up2date

...
serverURL[comment]=Remote server URL
serverURL=https://xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com/XMLRPC
...
And the ssl certificate is present on system :
[ ROOT@hclin10 > ls -l /usr/share/rhn/RHNS-CA-CERT
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 8865 févr. 29 2012 /usr/share/rhn/RHNS-CA-CERT

So I guess that we have a network configuration problem ...
Although the ping works :
[ ROOT@hclin10 /data/mignon > ping 91.198.174.225

The message of the rhn_register command is that the xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com could not be connected ...

Thank you in advance

Pierre.

removing the server from the customer portal should fix the problem of changing ip and hostname of the server in rhn website.
the part where you mentioned xmlrpc.rhn.redhat.com could not be connected.....
does your system need proxy setup to connect to internet,
if it does then you need to put proxy server address and it should work
