Unable to uninstall or remove package

Latest response

Hi,

I'm using RHEL 6.3 64bit on server. I need to remove this package audit-libs-2.2-2.el6.x86_64 and change/install audit-libs-2.2-2.el6.i686. However when i executed "yum remove audit-libs-2.2-2.el6.x86_64", the error message appeared at the end of line "Error: Trying to remove "yum", which is protected You could try using --skip-broken to work around the problem, You could try running: rpm -Va --nofiles --nodigest". any idea how to remove this package ?

also, are these depedencies automatically remove by using "yum remove audit-libs-2.2-2.el6.x86_64" ?
[root@SERVER ~]# rpm -qR audit-libs-2.2-2.el6.x86_64
/sbin/ldconfig
/sbin/ldconfig
config(audit-libs) = 2.2-2.el6

Hi please read the following article

Aldi, please let us know if the solution Mario linked helps resolve this

Hi Mario and David,
Thanks for the links, We have done install the 32 bit packages and it's working. Also, right now our team software implementor still not report any problems. but, is it okay to leave the 64 bit package that already installed in the system? i'm afraid there is some conflict between 32 bit and 64 bit package.

Thanks.
