Unable to connect to the network

Latest response

I have just installed the RHEL 8.1 from DVD ISO file. I am using a Developer edition Red Hat Linux Server. The installation went OK but I was unable to connect to the network starting from the installation.

The error I receive is as follows:

Could not activate connection:
Activation failed: IP configuration could not be reserved (no available address, timeout, etc.)

When I tell to activate the connection in NMTUI, during connecting... phase, the network receives a ping. But, the connection is not saved at all. The error is mentioned above.

Responses

The error seems to be in the network configuration for some reason on the NMTUI panel. Using nmcli, the issue was resolved instantly.

The command used is as follows: nmcli connection modify ether-enp1s0 ipv4.method manual ipv4.addresses 192.168.1.182/24 ipv4.gateway 192.168.1.254 ipv4.dns 8.8.8.8

Thanks alot,, It actually helped me as well. Looks like a bug on NMTUI.

Hello , most probably you have no DHCP or it was not running OK. And you had settings in NMTUI to use DHCP.

ipv4.method manual

resolves this .
