RHEL 7.6 freeze on Lenovo T530 by just running Settings

Hi all, I am new to RHEL. Installed RHEL 7.6 with the most comprehensive options on a Lenovo T530 laptop. Did a software update once I installed the system. The system now freezes if I start the settings app (Applications->System Tools->Settings). The cursor starts with a spinning wheel, and it stops spinning after a few seconds. I can move the cursor, but it is otherwise unresponsive. Must do a hard reset by switching off power. Any idea why that would be and how to fix it?
