Do overcloud nodes need to be registered to CDN or Satellite?

I am installing RHOSP13 using satellite server that I have locally configured. I have registered my undercloud to satellite 6.4 and installed it successfully. Now Do I need registration for overcloud nodes as well during/before installation? I can see that "openstack overcloud deploy " can take satellite information as arguments but problem is I do not have DNS to resolve satellite hostname, I created ip-hostname mapping on UC in /etc/hosts file. This was required to install katello*.rpm.

Please suggest on how can I install overcloud using satellite in my scenario.
