yum repository help

Latest response

Hi,
I've got what is probably a pretty silly question: I'm trying to attach to the "main" Red Hat yum repository using the subscription manager utility under sudo. sudo asks for my system password, which it accepts happily. The Subscription manager then asks for my Username and password. It seems to accept neither my system credentials, (as expected,) nor my Red Hat account credentials. Is there some other set of credentials I need? Where can I find them?

Thank you for your help,

Dan Bush.

Hi Dan,

Seems like your system is not properly registered and the subscription not properly attached and here is what should solve this :

sudo subscription-manager remove --all
sudo subscription-manager unregister
sudo subscription-manager clean

Now, in the following registration steps - you will have to enter your Red Hat account name and your Red Hat account password :

sudo subscription-manager register
sudo subscription-manager refresh
sudo subscription-manager attach --auto

Afterwards you can check which repositories are enabled by executing sudo subscription-manager repos --list-enabled.

Regards,
Christian
