RHEL 7 repo from RHEL 6 Server

Latest response

I have a RHEL 6 box where I keep an offline YUM repo. If I put my RHEL 7 RPM files in a sub-directory there can the RHEL 6 createrepo command create a repository from the RHEL 7 RPMs that a RHEL 7 systems can use for YUM updates.

Hi Pdev (as I do not see your real name),

I would use a directory outside the RHEL 6 repo to avoid a RHEL 6 to RHEL 7 migration, if a RHEL 7 server would use the top level directory as it's yum repository.

The RHEL 6 version of createrepo command should be possible to create a RHEL 7 yum repo.

It is George, by the way. It is a group login. :) Thanks for your excellent suggestions. I will give that a try.

Sorry for the late response, I generally only get on here once a week, and december/jan is stupid busy for me.

I do exactly this. You can create a separate repo for each OS release you want to. I have EL6, EL7, F25, F26, F27 repos on the same webserver. Each release is a separate directory.
