License confusion, unsure what I need

Latest response

Some help would be appreciated as I'm completely confused on what I need in terms of licensing.

We're a public University in the USA and I'm trying to run a copy a RHEL 6.9 as a VM on a system that has a single socket. The host system is Hyper-V which is already licensed. All I need is updates support, I don't need the ability to call in or make support tickets.

I've seen the RH licensing on their website, the various licenses on CDWG, whitepapers talking about Academic Discount pricing, I got a trial of the RHEL Workstation license and my RHEL Server consumed it as an available license for testing... I'm just confused and not sure what my actual options are.

Contact the Red Hat sales department in the USA.

The office is situated in Raleigh North Carolina.

As a EMEA inhabitant I cannot tell whether a Self-support subscription is valid for an Academic Site in the USA.

Thank you, we will contact them.
