How to use Satellite to install Linux clients on RHEV

Latest response

Is there documentation available that outlines a process with using Satellite (ver 6.1) to deploy new hosts to a RHEV environment?

The documentation I have read (and my experiences with Satellite and RHEV) so far seems to indicate that it can be done. However, several attempts in using Satellite to install RHEV clients (Linux clients) have been unsuccessful. I'm looking for something that can tell me if a certain type of template must be used on the RHEV side so that Satellite knows what to do... as well, how should a Satellite provisioning template look?

It appears Satellite can install a new Linux client on RHEV, but there appears to a lot details between these two environments to get the process to work correctly.

Thoughts?

Hello, which documentation have you read? Have you read the chapter called Provisioning Virtual Machines in Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization in the Provisioning Guide? That chapter in turn links to the Templates chapter in the Virtual Machine Management Guide for information on creating templates for virtual machines.

Thank you for the response. There appears to be a lot of information on either RHEV or Satellite, but nothing that shows how to work with both in a single environment. The link you provided appears more verbose and more meaningful than what I originally found: https://access.redhat.com/documentation/en-US/Red_Hat_Satellite/6.1/html-single/Provisioning_Guide/index.html#sect-Red_Hat_Satellite-Provisioning_Guide-Finalizing_Provisioning_Configuration-Creating_Provisioning_Templates

I'll read through the links you provided! Thanks again!
