Satellite 5.7 Installation problem.

Latest response

Hi Gurus,

I need help in setting up my rhn satellite.
I have installed it but during installation at one point it says where is the certificate file ?
I don't know how to handle that and which certificate it is asking for activating satellite.
Isn't it possible to install and activate satellite in disconnected environment ?
how can i resolve this ?
I did ctrl+c and tried web login where looks like httpd is running so it gives a page with a bold error "Error 404 File Not found"
i tried did restarting rhn satellite where i see this error comes in while startup

Starting osa-dispatcher: Spacewalk 8881 2015/06/23 01:34:37 +05:30: ('Invalid SSL certificate:', Unable to read file /var/www/html/pub/RHN-ORG-TRUSTED-SSL-CERT)

please help I am newbie to it.

Thanks in advance
Sandeep

Hi Sandeep,

Here's how I ingested my satellite certificate...

  • Go to this url https://access.redhat.com/management/distributors/ and assign the proper set of entitlements to your satellite
  • Download/install the corresponding xml file to your satellite server (the manifest is only if you happen to use the subscription manager that they describe in the Satellite training)
  • Use the following as root on the satellite to ingest the certificate:
  • Let's say the name of your xml file is "the.xml"

  • Read the output of the help topics with the "rhn-satellite-sync" command

[root@yoursatellite] # rhn-satellite-activate --help
  • Run the sanity check
[root@yoursatellite] # rhn-satellite-activate --disconnected --rhn-cert=/root/the.xml --sanity-only
  • Run it to install it:
[root@yoursatellite] # rhn-satellite-activate --disconnected --rhn-cert=/root/the.xml
