Install mysql 5.1 on RHEL 7.1
Hello,
I had a requirement of upgrading OS RHEL 5.6 to RHEL 7.1 , in that server we are running a java application (Hyperic 4.4) with mysql 5.1 DB. How could i plan this OS upgrading without disturbing mysql current installed & application packages.
If i would suppose go for a complete re-installation of OS to RHEL 7.1 and migrating application, How could i install mysql -5.1 server in RHEL 7.1 .
Thanks

RHEL7 ships with MariaDB 5.5.
MySQL 5.1 was shipped with RHEL6. You could likely get the SRPM from RHEL6 and rebuild it for RHEL7, however this would not be supported by Red Hat.
You could install Docker on RHEL7 and pull the RHEL6 container, then run MySQL 5.1 within that container. This is supported, but not for mission-critical applications, Sev3/4 only at the moment:
