Oracle Java 1.8 RPM Release Date?

Latest response

I know this is a horrible question, but I have developers ping'ing me. I'd like to stay with the RH provided RPM package of Oracle's JDK 1.8. Does anyone know if it's been released via RHN yet? Will it be in the same channel? The previous versions were in the channel called "rhel-x86_64-server-6-thirdparty-oracle-java", but I've seen new workstation and server channels that indicate to me that they may be new (shorter title) channels.

I suppose no would would now when it'll be added to the channels?

If it's not going to be added anytime soon, I'll just get it from Oracle themselves.

Thanks for any input.

I'll like to know also. Thanks.

I did see that RH finally updated the "rhel-x86_64-server-6-thirdparty-oracle-java" channel with the latest 1.7u72 RPMs. So that's something.

The java-1.8.0-oracle package (and all related Java packages, incl. the *-devel package with the JDK) is now available from the rhel-6-workstation-thirdparty-oracle-java-rpms repository. See Enhancement Advisory new packages: java-1.8.0-oracle.
