How can I create self-signed SSL certificates for use with Postfix on Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4?

The following commands set up a temporary workspace for creating a Certificate Authority Cert, an SSL Private Key, and the Certificate itself. The three resulting files are then copied to /usr/share/ssl/certs.
