Symptom:
You experience erratic jumps of the mouse cursor while using it over a KVM (Keyboard Video Mouse) switch and you use GRUB as your boot loader.
Solution:
Add the boot option psmouse.proto=imps in /etc/grub.conf and reboot into that kernel.
