Satellite 6 Component Versions

Satellite 6 is composed of many upstream projects. These are brought together, verified, and delivered as Satellite 6. It is often important to understand which upstream versions of these projects are delivered with Satellite 6. The tables below provide the versions which were available at GA time for each version of Satellite 6.

Identify the Satellite 6 Version running

• To identify the Satellite version that you have currently installed. The following methods can be used:

1. Before you log into the Satellite Server using the web UI at the fully qualified domain name (FQDN), version information is displayed:
   --> https://fqdn/users/login

2. If you are already logged into Satellite Server, you can visit the Satellite About Page:
   --> https://fqdn/about

3. If on the console, you can check the version by checking rpm version. For Satellite 6.2, use the following command:

   rpm -qa | egrep -i "satellite"
   

   • Prior to 6.2, use 3 of the core packages. However please note, that these are not the only packages that get updated:

     rpm -qa  | egrep -i "katello|foreman|pulp"

The following include the two main packages, katello and foreman to quickly track which version you are currently on.

RHEL 6 and 7

Both Red hat Enterprise Linux 6 and 7 have matching package names, the difference being the version.

Example: 
katello-1.5.0-30.el6sat.src.rpm 
katello-1.5.0-30.el7sat.src.rpm 

• There was a version between Satellite 6.0.8 and 6.1.1 GA versions for a Satellite 6.1 Beta release, which can be identified with the foreman package of 1.7.2.27.1
  There are some minor versions where the package version may not match, you can verify this from the Satellite errata list
