OpenShift Container Platform 4.12 is now available

Red Hat OpenShift Container Platform 4.12, based on Kubernetes 1.25 and Crio 1.25, is here!

This new release brings many updates to the open source container platform that accelerates the development and delivery of cloud-native applications consistently across the hybrid and multi cloud environments, all the way to the edge.

OpenShift 4.12 has a number of exciting new enhancements and features. Some of the highlights in this release include:

  • Installation support for private clusters in IBM Virtual Private Cloud (VPC), for shared VPC on Google Cloud Platform (TP), for disconnected or air-gapped environments with agent-based installer, and others
  • 24 month lifecycle for core platform for EUS releases, starting with OpenShift 4.12
  • Topology-Aware Lifecycle Manager (TLM) to tame upgrades at massive scale
  • Enhanced networking support, including OVN Kubernetes as default networking solution, a new Network Observability Operator, and support to dynamically scale the Ingress Controller (TP)
  • Hosted control planes (HyperShift) for AWS (TP), and bare metal using the agent provider (TP)
  • New Security Profiles Operator
  • CSI Migration for GCE Persistent Disk and CSI Migration for Amazon EBS
  • Enhanced resource allocation management using cgroup v2
  • Fast and low-memory footprint container runtime with crun (TP)
  • Unified OpenShift CLI delivery with OpenShift CLI Manager via krew (TP)
  • 49 customer-requested enhancements addressed
