Using wildcard DNS names with IPA

Issue

  • Using wildcard DNS names with IPA causes error.
  • When adding DNS entry with wildcard following error is observed.
# ipa dnsrecord-add server1.example.com * --a-rec 192.168.122.2

ipa: ERROR: invalid 'name': only letters, numbers, '_', '/', '-' are allowed. DNS label may not start or end with '/', '-'
