RHEL6: chainloading pxelinux.0 with pxechain.com fails, loading the second stage pxelinux.0 gets stuck

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

We use pxechain.com from sysutils to chainload pxelinux.0. This allows to have a first TFTP server hint the client at a second one, and the second one is then handing out vmlinuz and initrd.img. This works for us for booting RHEL5 kernels, but not foe RHEL6 kernels.

On RHEL6, the process is blocked on the second pxelinux.0, it seems the tftp server seems to be downloaded correctly to the client, but no other file is accessed). What is the right way to put this configuration working on RHEL6?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6
  • syslinux
  • PXE
  • TFTP
  • DHCP
  • chainloading
