Unable to find more than 257 Symmetrix LUN's on RHEL system

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • Storage has presented 259 Symmetrix LUN'S to a RHEL server.

  • The /etc/modprobe.conf files was edited with the entry below

options scsi_mod max_luns=2048 max_report_luns=2048
  • Rebuilded the initrd image as shown below:
#mkinitrd -v -f initrd-2.6.18-194.11.3.el5.img initrd-2.6.18-194.11.3.el5
  • After server reboot, only 257 SAN LUN's are visible.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux(RHEL) 5
  • Cisco Systems VIC FCoE HBA
