[RHEL5] kdump doesn't work as expected if root filesystem is different from one of dump partion.

Issue

  • Kdump creates a vmcore under root partition instead of dump partition specified in /etc/kdump.conf file.
  • This issue always occurs when filesystem type of root partition is different from one of dump partition.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.8
  • kexec-tools-1.102pre-154.el5
