How can I prevent High Availability cluster nodes from rebooting while I perform maintenance on my heuristic IP address?

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • There will be a scheduled maintenance and both Loadbalancers will be shutdown for 15 minutes, the gateway IP which is ping'd by GFS Heuristic will not be available as well. How can I temporarily disable the heuristic ping so that I can prevent the cluster nodes from rebooting during the outage?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux Server 5 (with the High Availability or Resilient Storage Add Ons)
  • Red Hat High Availability cluster with 2 nodes and a quorum disk

    • Qdisk has a heuristic that pings an IP address on the network, and that IP address will be unavailable during a planned outage.
