Unable to delete custom software channel which results in an internal server Error :500

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • In RHNS - Channels - Manage software channel - click channel name - delete software channel - Delete channel.
  • Delete software channel operation will cause RHNS service to hang or error 500 in the browser
  • Even after refresh browser, service will not recover
  • The only way to recover is to do a rhn-satellite restart.

Environment

  • Red Hat Satellite 5.4.1
  • External Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.2.0 - 64bit Production
