How can I disable rpcbind on NFSv4-only servers?

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

Our systems need NFSv4 only configuration, so there's no need for NFSv2 or NFSv3.
The RHEL Storage Administration Guide states at paragraph 9.1 that NFSv4 doesn't need rpcbind anymore.
On the client side everything works well already without rpcbind, but on the server side the nfs service fails to start if rpcbind is not running.
Is there a way to run the NFSv4 server without rpcbind?

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.x, 7.x
  • NFSv4
