In RHEL 6, windows move to the secondary screen after wake up from suspend

Solution Verified - Updated -

Issue

  • When suspending a laptop with an external (secondary) screen attached, all windows move to the secondary screen after wakeup from suspend.

  • By closing the lid, the icons and windows on the internal display are moved to the first external display. Let the machine suspend then open lid and the menu bar is on the internal display and the icons and windows are on the external display.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) 6.5, 6.6
  • Gnome
