LLC drops SNAP packets when skb is chained

Solution In Progress - Updated -

Issue

  • When writing a kernel module to receive Cisco Discovery Protocol (CDP) traffic using the kernel's built-in LLC routines, traffic is dropped when the receive traffic is sufficiently large that SKBs are chained. As a result, only small SNAP traffic is received.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5
  • kernel-2.6.32-431.el6
  • LLC/SNAP traffic such as CDP
