udev creates 70-persistent-net.rules with unexpected information for network devices

Solution Unverified - Updated -

Issue

  • We are currently testing installation of Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.5 to HP DL380 G6
  • ifcfg-eth0 and ifcfg-eth1 are prefilled with HWADDR in our kickstart %post section
  • We hope that udev will use this combination in its rules, but in fact we can find in rules '70-persistent-net.rules' two occurrences of eth0 and eth1 with different MAC address.
  • As a result, two interfaces cannot be formed within a bond since the network devices have unexpected name.
