Notes when the bus type of disk is changed from virtio to IDE by using virt-manager

Issue

  • KVM guest fails to boot after the following are executed.
  1. Change the bus type of disk from virtio to IDE by using virt-manager.
  2. Install another IDE disk in the same guest newly by using virt-manager.

Environment

  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.3
  • kvm
  • When the version improves from the minor version before RHEL6.2 to RHEL6.3, this issue occurs on existing KVM hosts.
  • When the KVM environment is newly made with RHEL6.3, this issue does not occur.
