Issue

  • Paths show failing after configuring multipath with ALUA ( failover mode 4).
  • Following are the logs found in the /var/log/messages file

    device-mapper: multipath: Could not failover the device: Handler scsi_dh_alua Error 15.
    device-mapper: multipath: Failing path 8:32.
    device-mapper: multipath: Could not failover the device: Handler scsi_dh_alua Error 15.
    device-mapper: multipath: Failing path 8:64.
    sd 1:0:1:3: alua: port group 01 state N non-preferred supports tolUsNA
    sd 1:0:1:3: alua: port group 01 switched to state A
    sd 2:0:1:3: alua: port group 01 state A non-preferred supports tolUsNA
    

Environment

  • System Dell R720 with two Fibre Channel QLogic "QLE2560" connected to EMC VNX5300 storage
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.4
  • device-mapper-*-1.02.77-9.el6.x86_64
  • device-mapper-persistent-data-0.1.4-1.el6.x86_64
